Why the .22's

Okay here is part of the reason for the influx of .22lr firearms.
I have been walking with a cane off and on for years. Now after my shoulder started giving out I can no longer handle a lot of firearms.
My mossberg 500 I can no longer shoot, either in handling the recoil or cycling the action when extended in a firing position. Close in I can do it but that requires dropping my arms to my sides. I nearly dropped the shotgun a month ago do to the pain from just running some simple dry fire practice drills.....once. First racking and I nearly dropped it. Add in the fact I can not lean on my right leg with much weight with out a lot of different medications I am now on I figured it was time to admit I am getting older.

Thus I have been buying some firearms I can fire without worry. Plus I like the .22lr round, especially out of a rifle length barrel.

So I sold the Mossberg my MBR and have started looking for a lefty friendly replacement. These links are for choice comparison not the place I will purchase them.

First up is the humble AK An M70 imported by Century International Arms. I like this mostly for the underfolder stock and price. I prefer .30 caliber and greater rounds for most things deer sized and greater. So this is my top choice right now butt....

The AR....theleftyfacehatingabouthadmethrowitatthetargetinbasic who I still detest do to all my experience with it in the military but those were all government maintained weapons....need I say more. So here is my second choice I trust the S&W company to put out a good product, and honestly the forward assist and dust cover never made sense to me.
Finally the alternate AR is the Ruger version This has one feature listed that I like a threaded barrel so just incase I can change flash suppressor or add a sound suppressor.

I can stop any time.....

Okay after getting a new Savage 64.....I got a Marlin 795. So now there are 3 .22lr rifles in the safe. Is it bad I want a a Savage Mark II followed by a Mossberg 802 then a Ruger American .22lr.

Review of the Safariland 6378 coming soon.

So is very comfy, the lock now works flawlessly, and it is much easier on and off.
The bad I had it arrive and not work....then it broke.....and now it works. More details to come.

I like Mossberg even more now.

Okay I just got off the phone with Mossberg service department.
I in weird sale to buy trade around sold my Crickett .22 for 110, then bought a Mossberg 702 used that had a disclosed broken recoil spring.
So after telling them I had bought the rifle second hand and needed a new recoil spring and wished to purchase one they dropped this bit of news on me. "We are sending you out a new one under the warranty," the very nice lady said to me. I was truly surprised and happy. Now I am really glad I put my stock in Mossberg, that is damn good CS right there.
Not only is it free, I am not even the original owner. True its a sub $10.00 part and probably is less then the shipping cost, but that is awesome right there.
Savage, Mossberg, and Sig, Iver Johnson, Smith & Wesson; had nothing but great luck with all of those.

Dear people on Facebook.

When someone gives you a detailed listing of an item, including model, manufacturer, hell even the dang color. Plus a color picture and you ask such mind numbingly easily googled questions as "Is it a single shot 22?", or this little gem of "What are you looking for trade?" when the original post clearly states "Not sure what I want in trade. It is a spare and honestly is just siting in the safe."
You make me want to delete the post at best, and at worst melt the firearm to slag and posting a picture of it with the caption "Your stupidity caused my rifle to commit suicide rather then possibly being owned by anyone that posted about it."

If you ever want to really know what steel to use in a knife.

Okay listen up if you have ever wondered about true scientific research and knowledge about steels used in knives here This man has done more cutting, testing, and actual study of steel then any 10 knife nuts I have ever seen combined. This man is a metallurgist in every way. He for fun does statistical analysis of knife steels.....let me repeat that "For Fun."

Kidney Stones: part "Not again"

I've got another kidney stone. This time instead of the stuff that makes you pee orange I got the stuff that makes you pee blue. Yes Blue, like smurf blue, or blue blue.
Medication is funny.
Now I just need to find the meds that make your pee purple.

Cat Allergys

My wife and I just adopted two cats. Don't ask me why, all I know is I wanted more cats. So we bring home one kitten and an adult cat. The kitten is now named Miss Mistachio (No that is not misspelled), the adult is named Cyndi.
Cyndi had a bit of the sniffles when adopted. She now is a snot monster and drooling and crying like a faucet. We changed the room we had put her in to the master bathroom so we can monitor her more closely and she has improved greatly.
I dare say the cat has allergies to the first room we put her into. So now we just have to see if she continues to get better or if it is a serious issue. We do plan on taking her to the vet in the morning, mostly for the sniffles and such, but we also need to get her vaccinated properly.

Miss Mistachio
Now you see why she is Miss Mistachio

Oh dear, Bio Weapons

Okay I live 45 minutes from the first Ebola case in the United States.
I will tell you this, "This is at best testing of the serum being used on these two human lab rats. At worst it is Bio Weapons research." Yes I just quoted myself, and most of my extended family.

Most of my extended family have been doctors or in medicine for 30 years. Some of them actually part of research of scary stuff. Most of them are saying this was done not to treat these two, it was to study them. What they aren't sure, but it isn't good. Even this serum can be a bad thing. It could lead to a weaponized Ebola strain, which we would have the only treatment do the math.

Now I have to go pick some brains because I need some more detailed preps....

Must Not Wander Academy.....

Okay, small confession. I have never owned a knife of VG-10, S30V, or 153CM......till today.

I have limited experience with all of these steels when it comes to knife blades. So when I was wandering Academy I spotted some clearance tags on the knife and blade fun time isle. Scanning most of them they were just out of my comfortable price range or just wasn't interested in the least.
Then I saw it, a Camillus folder in VG-10 at $29.99. Oh my wife is gonna kill me but I snapped it up in a heartbeat. I couldn't believe it so I price checked it at the little scanner nearby, it was $29.99.

So now I own a VG-10 steel knife.

The good, the steel duh, the G-10 scales, and the nice pocket clip.
The eh, the decent feel in the hand, the semi smooth opening, and the thumbstuds.
The bad....its a tanto point blade, and the coating chips really easily.

I already chipped off some of the coating on the tip of the blade....
For the record tanto blades are useful and strong, and if you don't mind the complication they throw on sharpening then have at it.

I do not like tanto blades, have one already and that sucker is just no fun to sharpen.
I can get it razor sharp but it is more of a chore, less the fun of sitting down and putting a shaving edge on a plain straight edge or a curved drop or clip point blade.

No one has noticed...or at least they haven't commented.

On Saturday the 19th I changed something. No one seems to have notice, can you? If so comment below.
I'm not just talking about the layout or such.

New layout

So, is this format a little easier on the eyes, or is it to bright?
I'm thinking that the post titles need to be a darker color though.

TSA coming to a goverment building near you

Well after my county took its stupid pill it decided to install cops to TSA everyone at the Annex building for my country government. I even had to take off my damn belt to drop off a job application.

Then the officer argued with me on why this was being done.

Im sorry it wasn't this way until it was legal for licensed carriers were legal to come inside.

Fuck you mister I'm an Officer. It is to keep law abiding people disarmed around the upper crust. There is no other reason.

You all didn't even properly screen me.

My Cat and Chickens

Unlike most people that have cats and chickens I do not worry about my chickens. The chickens have completely cowed the cat. He is terrified of them. He often will run inside if they come near him.

No one has noticed yet.

Besides adding new blogs, and rearranging the blog a bit I changed one big thing. No one seems to have noticed.

Ga Code HB60 and HB826

Well strap in Georgians, HB826 has been fucked. The official publisher of the Ga Codes has fucked it up, in essence they are acting like HB 826 did not happen.
They are acting like HB 60 changed parts of the law it did not, and over rides HB 826. In other words  we now have to sue.
They specifically have to ignore Ga Code and case law to do so.....illegally.
As my people of Georgia would say HAMMER TIME!

My work week is backward.

Just to explain a bit, the weekends actually are my work week. I work Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and used to be Sunday. Then I go to school Monday through Wednesday. The sucky part is I work nights and go to school days. My sleep schedule is messed up.

Magellan Outdoor shirts

Okay, I haven't gone cloths shopping for myself in like 4 years. Sadly a lot of my stuff is wearing out. Like my cover-shirt collection. So I got two new shirts from Magellan.
They are all synthetic which is nice because they don't hold sweat as bad as my old cotton shirts.
Also are the Fish Gear series and are much cooler, they also are button up shirts. So new I look a little more dressy then my old T-shirts that I used. Over all the last few weeks I have been wearing them constantly instead of OCing.
I am loving the pockets, not just two simple shirt pockets, but two mini pockets infront of each main pocket.
Also some kind of loop set on the left pockets right side seam, I use that to hold a pen usually.
I at first got a short sleeve version, then a long sleeve version that is designed to have the sleeves rolled up and secured with a button strap.
Both are very comfy, work well on my draw, and fit much better then my older shirts.
The price was actually pretty good, 20 for the short sleeve version and 25 for the long sleeve version.

Shave #3

Well, here we are again.
This time I did not shave at all yesterday. So today's shave was with a full beard growth. It was just as easy, also I switched back as my wife's request to shave cream. She didn't want it to go to waste. Oh dear lord that stuff stings after a few minutes. The cream was  Edge extra protection with cooling conditioners. It stings before I even start shaving.

I only do two passes right now as I am relearning how to shave. I know I could get a ridiculously close shave if I did three, but I am not wanting to risk the possible irritation. I will give it a full week for my face to get use to the new way of shaving before I do three passes.

Just for your edumication of wet shaving with a safety razor here is a video.Nick Shaves
Also good eye candy for the ladies.

Could they be Unstupiding?
Could this actually happen? I'm not saying they are getting smarter just maybe a little less stupid. It takes work to be as stupid as some of them act and that takes work. So maybe they are being more actively lazy. I don't know what it is, but it is something unusual.

I got nothing.

Honestly, the most I will be doing today is homework and maybe running a stump grinder.

New rifle....opps.

Well after pulling out the Savage 110 I knocked the front iron sight loose.....which lead to me trying to get to the screw under the blade of the sight....which is held in by a set screw....which is rusted shut.....which led to me using a stripped screw bit to try and remove it....and finally trying to drill it out.
Now I have to replace the new front sight ramp.
Eh, I needed to replace the front blade anyways. It was almost impossible to see.

Safety Razor update

After just touching up yesterday with my new safety razor I am checking my face and it seems almost like the same day I shaved. The bristle is noticeably less. So today's shave will be more of a touch up then a real shave for me.
As to the soap used I am using a coffee and cream lye based soap my wife makes. It is very nice and works well for just about anything.

Monday, July 14, 2014

So, I looked around and found instead of waiting for a safety razor to be delivered I could pick up a cheap one piece style one for 13 bucks at Sally's Beauty Supply.
Guess who just came from there....
Yeah so I got a no name brand safety razor and some Derby Extra blades.

Honestly I just hit the rough spots from shaving this morning, it was smooth and very nice. I did nick myself a bit, but didn't even notice it was so minor.
All in all it was very thrilling and relaxing. I know odd combo. Still I think I will keep trying this.
It's funny I can't wait to shave tomorrow, using a safety razor has made shaving enjoyable again.

New Blog thing followed

Hey check out No really.

It is interesting.

Just watching the metrics of my blog are kinda interesting. No one starts reading until about 5-6 am eastern time. Then it is a few hits here or there till around 11pm eastern. Not a lot of night owls read the blog.

One Crazy Idea leads to another.

Well after shaving with my knives a few days ago I couldn't stop thinking about actually trying my hand as straight razor or safety razor shaving.

So after watching almost all of on youtube, I then started watching or reading anything and everything on straight or safety razor shaving. So now I think I want to actually make the plunge.

Anyone taken this trip? Any advice is welcome.

New rifle

Well, I finally got time to post.
My new rifle is a Savage 110 in 30-06, is has an unknown Bushnell scope, and back up iron sights that the scope rings allow you to see. I am itching to go shooting. but all the local ranges I am finding are not rated for 30-06.
The one thing I am finding is that I may have gotten one heck to a deal, the Bushnell scope is no slouch, as in it may be worth more then what I paid for the rifle. But that is just a guess, more research is needed.
The bolt is smooth and locks up tight, mechanically she is fine.
Now for the bad,.
It has a lot of the bluing gone, as well as surface rust, and some slight pitting.
She also probably need some muzzle crown work. I don't think it's enough to make her really inaccurate, but she isn't gonna be doing sub 1 inch groups at 100 yards.

Friday, July 11, 2014

Hehehe, Im getting a bolt gun.

I'll just let you stew on what kind till it's in my hands. Hehehehe.

I did not know that.

Lana Wachowski was formally known as Laurence Wachowski
She transitioned about 2008, or at least that's what IMDB says.

New stock for my 500

Well, first off the stock that came with my Mossberg 500 was crap. It about knocked teeth out, and I am not exaggerating. I had 2 loose teeth after firing it 4 times. For the record it was a Knoxx SpecOps NRS stock. It sucked.
I like monte carlo stocks, they just work better for me. They are more comfortable and allow me to reach all the controls more naturally. They also make using it as a club much easier for me. Still I wanted an adjustable stock thus I found the ATI Akita
Stock photo from
It is adjustable, and has a fairly nice cheek rest. Also very solid feel. I haven't shot it yet but I doubt it will be as bad or worse then the Knoxx stock.

Just when you think you have a mutt.

I just realized that my "heinz-57" mutt was actually an almost show quality looking dog. My dog is apparently a Tibetan Terrier. This is exactly what my dog looks like.
Told ya.

Razor Vs Knife update.

My Wife has decided that where I used the knife was much smoother then where I used the razor.....

Crazy Ideas. Yes my knives are razor sharp.

Do to this Shaving with a spoon I decided to see if my knives are really shaving sharp like I think they are. Yes they are....never ever doing that again.
The main problem is that the drag is too high, it almost rips hairs out before it will cut them. It is by far the most painful shave ever. My knives can shave me, but the razor burn is horrible. I finally gave up at under my nose and my chin and finished with a real razor. Considering I was using an AUS-6 steel knife, and a 440C steel blade. Both can do it, but oh dear lord does that sting.

Late night snack

Recently I've been eating as a snack Rally's French fries, the make at home kind. I think it is odd that I've gone from eating a party bag size of Reese's peanut butter cups to now French fries.

I have 2 whole unopened bags still to eat.

World of Tanks.

Just go play the dang thing. You fight with tanks. It's fun and pseudo-realistic. Come on you drive a tank.

Thursday, July 3, 2014

Well things have improved greatly with my Father. He finally is getting treatment, after only nearly dying in 2 hospitals care. Now we have him at home and he is improving, as well as receiving outpatient treatment for his cancer.

I am still plugging along in college and doing well. Still working on my core classes.

Work I have cut my hours so that I can you know sleep. Other then that not much has changed.

The Rant.

Dear people treating my Dad, except his neuro surgeon.
Where the fuck did you get your medical training? The bottom of a cracker jack box?
Waiting to treat his cancer in any way despite it being the most aggressive form of brain cancer, and that has already grown in the damn 2 week since he entered your care.
Also allergies do not affect one eye only, one eye does not swell shut while the other is completely unaffected. Especially when he has been on high dose anti-histamines for days!
Finally holding my Dad medical records from me and my family, and a second doctor for "Policy" reasons pisses me the fuck off.
You are risking my Dads life for a policy, that FUCKING VIOLATES FEDERAL LAW!
Then to appease us you release a partial record, none of which includes anything you have fucking done in over 2 weeks.
Then when I talk to another doctor about his MRSA, I find out you are not following standard infection control procedures, and are in fact spreading MRSA to your entire hospital do to your stupidity. No wonder he got MRSA, you fuckers gave it to him.

Shit storm of Fuck

While at Grandma's funeral my house was broken into, which was followed by both sets of house keys and car keys being stolen after we get back. Then my cat went missing from my house.
Now the shit frosting, my Dad has brain cancer, oh and had bleeding on the brain after the biopsy. Which caused loss of speech. Now he has a staph infection that went from his biopsy incision to his brain, of course it is MRSA. So I'm currently on night duty to watch him.

Yes I started smoking, only because my damn e-cigarette broke on me at the same time.

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

Great wall O Text update

First, I quit smoking.
Since my sick as a dog post I haven't had a cigarette in over 3 weeks. I account my current success to a E-cigarette. I lucked out and got a good one for around 20 bucks. It is an EVOD battery with a Kanger T3S Clearomizer clone tank. These work well and I currently am on a Pineapple kick. Current nicotine level is 12mg, and I am quickly thinking of lowering that to 6mg. So if all works out by this time next year I will not even be using the E-cigarette. I frankly haven't even wanted a real cigarette, they smell gross and I can smell it now. I didn't realize just how much my smell and taste was affected by smoking. I also feel so much better.
Second, I went shooting at a new place
Governors Gun Club. It is a very nice set up and the range people are really nice and helpful. Computerized targets, and well ventilated.
Third, I tested the grendel.
The grendel is still not reliable with 11 rounds in the mag. It will work reliably with 5 rounds in the mag, but not with round nose FMJ. So once again I have found another .380acp that hates FMJ, but works with JHP.....
Fourth, I can't shoot.
At 10 yards I was barely able to keep them on the targets torso, this also being DA from my Sig 226 in 9mm. Single action was.....weird, I could barely keep them on the target at 10 yards. I ended up just decocking every shot and shooting DA only to keep them on the torso. Still the spread was left and right of aim, and was about 9 inches across. A little high and low about 4-5 inches. It was embarrassing.
Perhaps it's something mental, I did go into that range trip actually worried about re-injuring myself.
Fifth, My shoulder and elbow are better.
The whole reason I went shooting was at the direction of my Physical Therapist, just to make sure I was ready to end therapy. I actually rented the heaviest recoiling pistol at the range. A S&W Governor and fired 20 rounds of .410 00buckshot, one handed. That thing stings the palm, but is amazingly controllable, and fun.

Still sick.
My last two days have boiled down to this; eat, puke, and repeat.

I think I might be lucky and finally keep something down today. We will see about the toast I just ate.

Neck knives.

I haven't been sleeping well so blog has been suffering.

I am going to try out some neck knives. I've always carried pocket folding knives, with fixed blades when out in the woods.
That's gonna change.
I am currently waiting on getting a TDI LDK, and a Boker Magnum Lil Friend clip point.
I will try out both those, and see which I like better if at all. If I do like them I am thinking of getting some larger neck knives later for testing.

Good news.

I just heard back from my doc, after he reviewed the MRI.
Arthritis and Bursitis.
Not as bad as feared, and he thinks with physical therapy, and continuing on the Meloxicam, I should be fine.
Still, shooting might not be advisable till fully healed....
Airsoft training with my Sig P226 mockup is all I can do besides .22.

American Health Imaging. It's over 9,000...yes I went there

Officially per Blogger I have had over 9,000 views of my blog.

I got my MRI done today, and I must say American Health Imaging is an incredible company. One, they were incredibly nice, well thought out and treated me like a person. Two, they on my arrival notified me there were running late and gave me the option to reschedule. I declined and decided to just wait, and they gave me a $10 gas card for my having to wait. They still got me in quite quickly, and had lockers that actually lock for me to store my belongings in while I was scanned.
Third, they gave me my own copy of my MRI results. This is very nice for second opinion purposes and I have a weird thing were I like to personally see all test results myself, not just go with what the doctor tells me. I have been burned before on that.

interesting vulgar vs casual

I keep noticing a trend, the more vulgar the post title the more views it gets verses other post titles.
Ah the internet and its different standards.
Personally those are usually my least favorite posts.
They are mostly born of writers block, or frustration needing a vet.

There may be some side effects

When taking Meloxicam make sure you eat before ingesting, puked a lot is all I'm saying.

Saturday, February 8, 2014

Couldn't sleep.

Got a few hours of sleep and have been goofing off online. I think taking a concealed carry class again this time using my left hand as my dominate would do me a world of help.

Monday MRI

So the doc after looking at an X-ray decided on a MRI.
In the mean time he gave me a prescription for Tramadol, I apparently get hyper on it.

Do to this all I have switched to carrying left side....
While I can shoot left handed and practice, not enough, with my left side doing everything. It still does not feel right, when dry fire practice I keep wanting to switch my grip. The feeling is akin to wearing a button up shirt with the buttons misaligned.

Ergh, I am tired. I think I'll go to bed.

Arm issues Part 2

Well I went to the doctor January 27th, and started Meloxicam. The arm has just kept getting worse. So much so that I have switched sides now to my left side for carry. I can not even on good days get my right arm back to grip and draw my pistol.
So today I am going back to the doctor, see what he says now. I already have an X-ray of my shoulder and nothing looks out of order, but I will have my doc take a look just in case.

Monday, February 3, 2014

Ass shats.
Okay, I just watched the Cherrio's Superbowl ad after hearing there was a "Controversy" over the Cherrio's ad.
Seriously, it was a sweet, and great ad.
Only a bigoted fucktard would have issue with this commercial.

In no way was this commercial offensive, unless you are a racist bastard.
It's 20fucking14 people, if seeing a black man married to a white woman and having a kid offends you then you can get the fuck out of my gene-pool.

Arm issues

I have for the last few months been having recurring pain in my right elbow and shoulder. So much so I went to the doctor, who gave me a scrip for Meloxicam. It has helped, in fact I found out I have inflammation in all my joints.
Still if I move my shoulder the wrong way it just hurts like hell, and won't stop hurting.
Today it hurts so bad after waking up that I switched carrying from my right side to my left do to that fact I can barely reach my pistol.
So I am thinking I might just be more then recoil sensitive, but actually have some damage in my joints.
Heck, I might just have to switch carrying to my left side for good. Which will be weird considering I have always been a right handed pistol shooter.
Looks like another doctor visit is needed.

Nice gifts, and good customers.

I have a regular customer, comes in everyday pretty much and orders the same thing. So when I see him pull into the parking lot I start fixing his order right away.

He always tips, and tips me as well.

We often talk guns, 2A, and general interests.

Today after talking several times before this about knives and comparing a few he came in with a small grocery bag.
Long story short he had several new pocket knives he had bought over the holidays part of several sets he had given as gifts. He just gave me the last of the sets, needless to say I was really thankful and thanked him for this gift.
He also tipped me despite my trying to refuse politely after he had given me these knives.
Unexpected, but certainly not unwelcome.

People can surprise you.

Maxpedition gear

Even though I only have had a few items of Maxpedition gear I always find their stuff great.
Quality is top notch, and customer service fast and good. The only thing is they are not cheap, like the old saying goes Fast, Cheap, or Good; pick one.

Still they are not extremely expensive, just not cheap as hell.
I guess they strike the middle of the road, IE affordable.

Case in point

My only neighbor for the last two days has been trying to get one of his cars out of his driveway. He is still trying as I type this.
He keeps flooring it like that will work, no digging, no sand, and nothing under the tires to aid traction.
He is on the slightest of slopes, and keeps spinning out, I think he has moved it a few feet the last two days of trying.
They are driving a sedan, not a subcompact on a steeper sloped driveway. The spinning tire sound is driving me a little batty.
As to why I am not being nice and offering to help, he was friends with my former Asshole downstairs neighbor. The crack head thief, who's son is a meth head thief. Oh and I am pretty sure he has a meth lab. I ain't doing crap to help him.

Sit down and write.

I have been finding that if I just sit down and start typing topics spring to mind to talk about here.

I want to do a full review of the Maxpedition Jumbo Versapack KISS, but I really don't have the time to do it justice.

I will say this though, it is better then the Fatboy, and honestly should have been what I got in the firstplace.
I do have a habit of over packing, but that's just a bad habit and not the fault of the bag. I just makes it so much easier.
The best part to me is the zippered CCW pocket in the back, it not only holds my spare pistol but spare mags easily. It also allows a much smoother draw from it then the Fatboy.
Also I have an older version of the Fatboy that hooked to your belt to help hold it in place and take some of the load off of your shoulder. The waist strap is much easier to use, and doesn't seem useless honestly like the older Fatboys belt attachment feels. I have used the waist strap more in a month of having it then the Fatboys belt attachment in several years of owning it.
Finally it does allow me to put everything from the Fatboy into it and still have room to put odds and ends that I need that day.
The one downside is it has less dividers in the separate compartments and pouches, making things a bit and just a bit harder to find and organize.

Same great quality, and well thought out design. It is so good I got one for me and one for my Spouse.

Snow....what ever you want to call it today something with don or lypse

I live a quick trip outside Outside The Perimeter, Georgia speak for not inside Atlanta. Small town, little budget, and smaller work crews; all while having a very large country to work over. Road are still passable, if you do one thing that I know Atlanta drivers do not know how to do.
Drive under the speed limit, shockingly this would have avoided most of the crap that caused the gridlock all over Inside The Perimeter.
If you do not know how to drive on snow and ice stay home, you are in danger, and a danger to others.
Hell I know what I am doing and decided to stay home, not because I couldn't drive in this kind of stuff, because I knew most of the other drivers out there didn't have a freaking clue. I stayed home despite school not cancelled, I treat work and school as the same level of importance.

285, 85, and 75 are the road names people, not the speed limits!

Oh yeah, and this should be a no brainer. Keep blankets, food, water, and medical supplies in your car!

No fucks were given(and no brains present)

I had to track this one down after I saw this

This lead me to the local news story about it,

He has no brains, and does not give a shit.

Although I imagine his accommodations in the local lock up are less then stellar, stupid should hurt.

Odd projects( Grendel P-12 fluff and buff)

First off, dear Mr Kellgren while I love the designs you make, the Grendel P-12 is a sonva bitch to take down.

I decided recently to try my hand at doing a fluff and buff on a Grendel P-12, which involved many times getting skin pinched and caught in the slide against the grip frame.

The good news, the feed ramp took almost no time to get it mirrored in its smoothness.

The bad, the rest of the parts are despite hours of polishing and working over with 0000 steel wool not even close to mirrored. I think it will take far more effort then reasonable to get anything but the feed ramp mirrored.

I do think though that the overall effect is an improvement.

The R-51

I have to say this first. I was really excited at first to see the R-51 by Remington, an alloy framed single action 9mm without a thumb safety.

Now that I think about it though, and some specs have been revealed, I am disappointed a bit.

One, it is far larger then first alluded to.
Initially it was thought to be almost pocket 9mm, but sadly it is more like a single stack belt gun. Not a great thing considering there are 1911's that are its size and capacity. Hold on let me compare it to Bersa's new BP9CC.

*Bersa stats from's Jeff Quinn, R-51 stats first from Wikipedia another set from's Phil White
(Little aside, I trust Jeff Quinn on stats. The man gets out the calipers. So until I see his stats on the R-51 who knows really.)
Personally I think the height stats aren't correct, seeing it in Eric from IV8888 hand it seems bigger.

Two, the trigger is quoted by some(namely Eric from IraqiVeteran8888) as having a "mushy" reset.
A mushy reset is almost killer for some. I have a Grendel P12, it has the Mushiest reset ever in my experience. I have never been able to feel the reset. Which makes quick accurate fire difficult for some. I know for fast shots with the Grendel I am stuck almost slapping the trigger.

Three, the grip safety.
Initially I wasn't that concerned with it, but now after thinking a bit more, and considering my feelings on 1911's and XD's I'm pretty sure I don't like it. If you aren't holding it 100% perfectly then will the grip safety deactivate and allow you to fire? This is a poor choice in my opinion for a defensive arm. The main reason for this for me is the one and hopefully only time I've drawn my pistol. I was under a truck, and actually barely was able to get a grip on it. Hell pulled my shoulder out of socket to draw, and thus I learned to like holsters that either arm can draw from. Also that shit happens and you may not be at 100% when you need to use your pistol, this includes hand strength and grip.
Another point, I have seen stuff stuck under 1911 grip safeties. The offending articles were only found during a detailed you can see why I get hinky when I see a grip safety on a pistol.

School day

After classes I found a DnD group starting up. I unfortunately was unable to join, but still it made me miss gaming.

I wonder if I can find another group to join, a game of shadow run would be fun.  I kinda got a little annoyed with some of the DnD players that tend to run around here. I do not want to just kill everything and take all its stuff, I want a story. A great story would be even better, and actual character development.

Mini rant

Okay seriously, WTH, the teacher in my English class gets on to people talking, then starts talking twice as loud with other students about non class topics. I literally had to turn up my ipod to drown her out so I could concentrate on what I was reading.
Like you said this is time to focus on class work, not carrying on with your friends.
Also the word is Scared not Scerd or how ever the hell you spell it.

Just remember Cooperate N' Graduate. CNG folks CNG.

Breakfast....or dinner...nevermind Food.

I can cook eggs like a champ, omelets easy, sunny side up nothing, over light come one challenge me .

I decided on scrambled eggs with pepper jack cheese, pepper, and bacon.
Cooked slightly wet, and served with coke to drink....

My diet should have killed me.

Good Puppy.....put down the bear....

Giant dog I actually have personally seen these dogs. There was a U.S. breeder who I ran into years ago, he though had bred them larger, he said mostly do to finding one with a form of gigantism and finding more and starting his own breeding pack . The one I met was almost 4 feet at the shoulder, although the man did say this was his largest dog. Most of his were three feet at the shoulder. He also trained his very well to be more docile then the breed is usually.
Here is some wiki fodder for ya.

Now my Spouse wants one....

One chicken minus head

Currently running around starting college, during the day, and working nights. So yeah busy as hell.

On other news got my Spouse health insurance, it doubled my payments. So money just got real tight.

Over slept.

I enjoy picking up old games that I have already beaten and playing them again.

The latest is Doom 3, I've beaten it several times both cheating and not cheating. I still find it creepy as hell. Some of the jump scares have seen better days, but the overall atmosphere is still enough to unnerve.
I still think though, on the whole freaking base there isn't one roll of duct tape? The reason if you haven't played it is that you can either have your flashlight out, and see what is coming, or your weapon....
Also the character you play is a marine, and doesn't know any light and weapon manipulation techniques? I weep for the future if that happens.

Sadly I was wanting to play Half life 2, a game I own but never actually got around to playing, only to find out my copy will not install. Not sure why.

You made the Blog

My last post was mostly a throw away post, it was made half jokingly.
Still I got this comment, which deserves a blog post response. Responses will be in bold.

Yeh; That's a great Idea; buy a weapon that will be shot out in five to ten years, so you children can't inherit a working firearm.
Not all firearms are designed or meant to be passed down, they are heavy use and will either need extensive maintenance or replacement parts.  All metal objects eventually will corrode to dust. You can only delay this with maintenance. If it isn't being made it's corroding.

Or didn't you think that the Clinton AWB was planed from the very beginning to get the "gunnies" started on a fad; To only buy weapons with limited life spans (plastic and alloy Hi-Cap) and thereby ending firearms ownership within a generation.
Actually no, I think alloy and "plastic" firearms were innovations to improve weight, cost, and other issues. They were designed to make a better more affordable firearm more quickly then traditional all steel, which is heavy and limiting in both size and usability for multiple sized and shaped people.
You see M-1 Garand's and M-1911s have hundred year lifespans
If shot very little, or have extensively replaced parts and maintenance. This often includes tig welding cracks, or whole new frames on certain pistols do to frame stretching and distortion.
 M-16s, AR-15s, Glocks, Sigs, and M-9s DON'T.
Oddly, enough there are still Generation 1 Glocks....which are over 30 years old now that I see at the range and they look just as good as a brand new Glock. It all depends on round count, every firearm frame, all firearms parts have a lifespan measured in rounds fired. After X number of rounds that part will most likely fail soon after.
Alloy and plastic firearms were meant from the outset to be "combat disposable" .
All weapons are "combat disposable", what ever that means, they accomplish the goal for a fixed number of rounds before they must either be repaired or replaced. They also are designed for a different type of fighting, as well as needs then the older designs that often are heavier, hold less ammo, and limited adjustment  for different users.
To be used by military's with unlimited funds(other peoples money) and a "throw it away and get a new one" mindset. ---Ray

Well Holy Shit.

Striker Fired SIG!

It's for LEOs mostly, but wow, a striker fired Sig.

I have to say if the trigger is anything like the 250's in smoothness, and the grip frames look identical.....I want one.

I like the 250 both in handling and trigger, just never got around to getting one since I have a P226. Now with this hmmm I might just scratch the AK, and get myself a new polymer pistol....

Oh my dad is gonna be ticked, I'll be the black sheep of the family. The first to carry a polymer pistol.

Trauma kit not included....

Rail Mounted Chainsaw

So, how long till we see someone at the range with this Self inflicted amputation device?

Or worse yet some LEO agency rocking these for their SWAT team...

Little thing I do

After reading a year ago that is was bad to rechamber the same round even a few times I started marking rounds that have been chambered.

The way I do it is when I go to do some dry firing I pull the round out and use a sharpy to run a single line down the back of the case across the primer.

Then when I am finished I just pull out the other rounds marked as chambered and put the mag in to chamber a fresh round, then top the mag back up and put it back in the gun.

It also is a good way to tell when its time to buy/shoot your carry ammo and put in new ammo as carry ammo.
Right now when I fill up 2 mags, or 36 rounds, with chambered ammo then I take that to the range to shoot and put new ammo in them for carry.

Sick day.

I've been thinking of using my tax refund....if it get one, to get a AK variant. Nothing fancy, just something to plink with and shoot at the range mostly, work on my rifle skills. Also as something to hand to someone else if the SHTF, and their sans SHTF item 1.

Still I got to find out more about AK's so if you know where to get some info drop me a comment.

Odd pup

My Spouse tried a recipe for Kale chips, they did not meet with satisfaction. Oddly though when one was dropped after being made our dog Bau snapped it up and ate it. Now Bau is literally giving us puppy eyes to get more Kale chips.

New Year, new blade

I decided to pick up a new pocket knife....mostly do to my Spouse losing one of my pocket knifes. So I stopped by store in Ga and check out their knives. After comparing a lot of them I finally decided on a Kershaw shuffle. It's pretty nice, its tip up carry, bottle opener and a flat head screwdriver on the handle. Locks up great, came shave you sharp, and real handy.

One of the more interesting design parts is the pocket clip in a reverse grip gives you a nice place to put your thumb, that way its not on the pointed flathead screwdriver tip.
