Interesting holsters.

I switched on a pure impulse my carry holster, a Ace Case IWB right handed holster, to a Blackhawk Serpa level 2 Sportster. This was about 3 weeks ago now, here are my opinions.

The Ace Case conceals well, is very comfortable, is leather and nylon trimmed. It simply clips on and off, and other then collapsing when the Sig isn't in it pretty much one of my best holsters to date. It also is cheap. Currently selling for 15 dollars, I got my first one in 07 for around 7 bucks. It is no thrills, bare bones, but completely functional and comfortable for me. The bad thing is that the holster tilts a little too easily through out the days movements, but it is a single point clip. Also that it collapses after drawing from, but I'm not a believer in the one handed not looking as you reholster camp. Look as you holster and use both hands to make sure the holster is clear and that its clothing free to reholster.

The Serpa conceals okay under a jacket, but not under shirts. Even shirts 2 sizes to large. The locking system is easy to adjust to actually, still takes a bit of practice to get in the proper draw. It also a paddle style, but does not clip on or off as easily, and in fact is a pain to take off. It does make a okay open carry holster, still not as comfortable as my Ace Case. It also is 30 dollars.
My main complaints are the paddle width is far too wide, it would be nice if there were different sizes. I am smaller then average, thus the paddle digs in no matter what. I also think the holster sticks out far too wide, and this is mainly do to the mount holes for the main holster body actually sticking out nearly a quarter inch.

So am I sticking with the Serpa....probably not. It just isn't as comfortable, or conceal as well when I want to conceal.

Pardon any typos or grammar errors, cant find my glasses today, and can barely see to type.

Allergies suck

Yesterday was fun.

I was changing the starter on my car when I started itching on my left arm, the one stuck down in the engine turning a bolt. Well my arm got tired so I pulled it out and notice several welts and what looked like hives covering the inside of my elbow down to the wrist. I look over at my right arm and same hive like appearance, I look over at my partner and ask for some anti-histamines.
That's when they say my neck also has welts, a quick check of my back and chest shows more hives and welts....so we rush to the doctor. He takes one look and says, lets get a shot of Decadron in me. So they shoot me up and say if it doesnt get better to comeback or go to the ER. They also said you should lay down, it will make you sleepy.....wow they were not kidding.
Took the shot at like 3pm, woke up around 3am. Still worked like a charm, no welts or hives.

I never even got the starter out of the car....now how to fix the car I can't touch.

The one thing about this that was interesting, I was OC my Sig, not a word was said by anyone. Except the nurse giving my shot, she asked what kind of gun when I took it off so I could drop pants to get the shot. Then she said she has a Ruger, and that it was a present from her Husband, and that her Dad is a firearms instructor.
Needless to say, I love living in Georgia at times.

Fuckers

This is my fucking wedding, not yours fucker. I am paying for it, I am planning it. I don't care what you think is nice, its my fucking wedding. If that isn't good enough for you then piss off. Once again my wedding, the only person who gets a say is my Partner. We have a plan, we are paying for it, and its our wedding. I don't care if you don't like the theme, the location, one of the meal options. Anything, because it is our wedding, it is our special day not yours.

If you have a problem with that then fuck off.

Things I learned at IDPA

1: HKS speedloaders can drop all but one or more rounds in the cylinder of a revolver, and the rest on the ground during stressful reloads.

2: The stock sights on a K-frame smith are invisible in low light, and a flashlight does not always work to see them.

3: My arm can no longer take even .38special
 without hurting weeks later.

4: My point shooting out to 10 yards is pretty good, as in -1 was except for a couple targets was the worst I did.

5: I love the trigger on my Smith.

6: I do not like how slow I'm at reloading a revolver.

7: I do not want to fire my revolver one handed ever again, even though it is a K-frame smith firing target .38special.

So in conclusion, I am thinking selling my revolver and getting something lighter recoiling.

Eh Since all the cool kinds have been passing this around I figured what the hey.

I Am A: Neutral Good Human Ranger (5th Level)

Ability Scores:
Strength-17
Dexterity-17
Constitution-15
Intelligence-16
Wisdom-15
Charisma-13

Alignment:
Neutral Good A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others. He works with kings and magistrates but does not feel beholden to them. Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias for or against order. However, neutral good can be a dangerous alignment when it advances mediocrity by limiting the actions of the truly capable.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class:
Rangers are skilled stalkers and hunters who make their home in the woods. Their martial skill is nearly the equal of the fighter, but they lack the latter's dedication to the craft of fighting. Instead, the ranger focuses his skills and training on a specific enemy a type of creature he bears a vengeful grudge against and hunts above all others. Rangers often accept the role of protector, aiding those who live in or travel through the woods. His skills allow him to move quietly and stick to the shadows, especially in natural settings, and he also has special knowledge of certain types of creatures. Finally, an experienced ranger has such a tie to nature that he can actually draw on natural power to cast divine spells, much as a druid does, and like a druid he is often accompanied by animal companions. A ranger's Wisdom score should be high, as this determines the maximum spell level that he can cast.

Okay not sick now.

Either it was food poisoning, or my work got me sick....

Anyways later posting about my IDPA insights on my current revolver carry.

Saturday, August 3, 2013

I thought it couldn't get worse.

Well after the match, I got locked out of my car. Then after getting back in found the battery dead....
Hence why I was 6 hours after the match getting home, and now I've gotten sick from something.

Called in sick to work, sick.

I go in to work unless I can't walk, or well the bathroom is my new vacation spot.

Ergh, next month hopefully won't have this bad of luck.

only six hours after match

I just got home some six hours after the match ended. Still didn't get DQed, oh and did I mention my first match was a no light/low light match?

Fun was had, procedurals were done by I, and no non shoot targets were hit.

I shot with a stock Smith and Wesson 65-7, using Federal LRN 158gr 38special. Light was a energizer 1watt led tactical metal.
This was across 4 stages, first one started from seated.

I was one of 3 shooting revolver, but the only stock service revolver. My best time was 38 seconds before scoring, scores to be posted later.

I did get one video that the light level was bright enough that you saw more then muzzle flash, although just barely.

Goodnight.

I'm going to try IDPA for the first time. Hope I don't suck too bad.

New way of carry needed

Well, my doc thinks my recent neck and back issues might be cause by my carrying.

He recommends changing how I carry, give my back and neck a change of pace and heal up. So now instead of a belt holster on my right hip I need something different. It was suggested a shoulder holster, anyone tried this themselves did it help?

Been hurting real bad the last few days, keeps getting worse. Can barely sleep, or move my head. Blogging lacking due to pain.

chickens are escape artists

My partner had to wake me up today shortly after finally getting to bed. Why because the chickens escaped the run, they had been trying to chase the chickens down.
Do not chase chickens, lure them in with feed. Also my chickens like being petted, but not held, but will sit in my lap.

not feeling it today

Gonna go to sleep, maybe post later.

Waking up at butt crack o dawn.

One thing about having chickens. No matter what time you go to sleep, you must wake up at dawn to let them out of the coop, and into the run.

Still no lower receiver.

Honestly, can't really get excited about it. After thinking it through I would just end up selling it. So I would waste time and money on something I don't like, and have no real use for in my life.

So unless someone would pay me to build one for them its just not worth it.

Really, I'm serious. It makes me wonder.

Do I come out as a gun Blogger?

That's something I've been thinking about lately, do a reveal myself on the blog. The attentive already know some details, but I've tried to keep things vague, or not said.

Heck who actually knows my gender? Which might lead to an interesting blog post later.

I see some pros, and a heck of a lot of cons.

But I keep thinking what my partner said, "You don't  really standing behind something unless you put your face to it.

You too Florida?

IT that blew the whistle on Zimmerman trial evidence withheld fired.

So this cases is fucked seven ways from Sunday, and they think the best way to make it all go away is to fire a whistle blower involved in a capital murder case.

WTF Florida?

I so need a drink.

The answer to face hating AR's

AR-15 Brass Deflector
The answer to my big question on the AR build, left handed or right handed.

First left handed AR's are more expensive use nonstandard parts, and often are brand proprietary.
So do I get a rightly, and embrace the suck of brass in the face or get a more expensive and nonstandard AR parted AR. Thus making repairs and maintenance more expensive.

25 bucks wins on this decision.

Saturday, June 29, 2013

I've got a crazy idea.

I hate the AR-15/M-16, have since I shot it the first time in the military. Still, I've been having this odd urge to build my own.

Just out of some masochistic need, also as dirt cheap and slowly as funds allow. Maybe a part a month.

So I've been researching parts, first part is the lower, and I've decided on a New Frontier LW-15 stripped lower.

Now on onto the lower parts kit, and haven't decided. Next month I will buy the lower, and give a quick overview of it. Maybe some pictures too.

Morning person I Ain't

Some bloggers are morning people, by that I mean they already posted 2 or more hours ago. 8 am is dang early, I'm usually still in the shower, or asleep on my day off.

Bank run today, and maybe a toy store window shopping.

pics from the Atlanta MAIG tour

From some counts we had a one point 80, and them 47, most of the time it seemed around two to one until near the end when our side started leaving they had a new bus load show up. So all in all good showing on our side. No one got nasty, and 2A and 1A were exercised.

Tomorrow's Anti-gun protest in Atlanta

Tomorrow my Partner and I are going to the Atlanta Ga MAIG No More Names Tour. So hopefully we will out number everyone going there to support it, namely the media. They can't ignore us then.

OCing story time, and WTF is it Failsafe time almost.

OK, last night was on a late night need to get dinner stuff we are missing and as I'm checking out first a gentleman asks if my revolver is a .38 or .357. I simply it is a .357, and he says thought so,  is it a smith? And I said yeah just and old model 65. This gets a "nice", and he walks off. No dinner then he walks off a customer who was checking out walks over and says "Thanks you for carrying".

Now this always puts me a little weird feeling, I carry for myself really only, I OC because it is faster by a second on the draw, and its more comfortable. I don't really do it for any other reason. Eh, at least it was a pleasant encounter.

Now on to the second item Zerohedge links to a bloomberg story saying this "from Bloomberg which reports that "thousands of technology, finance and manufacturing companies are working closely with U.S. national security agencies, providing sensitive information and in return receiving benefits that include access to classified intelligence, four people familiar with the process said."

What the fucking hell?  If this is really true pray it isn't then we will see the reset button option used in our lifetime. Trading national classified data for access to spy on Americans. Who in they're right mind would think this is ethical, moral, legal, or constitutional? Right never mind this is government, the largest mental asylum in the states.

I'm gonna go drink.

Part time I said.

When I started my new job I made it clear this was to be a part time job while I go to school. I am now every week trying not to get over time.
Once again my own work ethic has bit me in the butt. I can barely get my school stuff done because I literally am bouncing shifts and fighting not to get overtime, meanwhile another worker put in his two weeks notice.

I would like to go shooting, but frankly just no way to do it.

Tablet update, and new firearm.

Lets just say couponing and deal shopping is paying off. Got a new tablet a nexus 7 for free. Now blogging will be easier and faster.

As to firearms I got a Crickett rifle in OD green. Mostly as a pack rifle but also do some plinking and to teach my Partner how to shoot.
Haven't gotten to shoot it yet but I love the sights. Simple ghost ring with triangle front blade. Rear adjustable for windage and elevation.
One big plus is the front blade can be changed easily. Comes in at under 3 pounds. It also fits completely in my pack,

Monday, April 1, 2013

Okay, been busy with a new job and trying to get college stuff ready. Today was crazy, a car rammed the building at work. Broke a lot of glass, but no one was hurt. Crazy.

Dammit, insomnia

Okay, I have insomnia, and frankly do to my freaking high tolerance to most sedatives I have to some take Quetiapine as a sleep aid. It's well like a pill form of thorazine, and that will take a PCP overdose into comaville faster then you can say Thorazine. go watch Thor, "I am the mighty.."........Thorazine..... Sadly I just built up a tolerance......crap new med time.

New site.

Gayswithguns.net Just found this, its new but figure its something that needs to be spread around. So hope it keeps on going.

Just for kicks.

I have been stopping in at the local fun store, and well things are bare. Anyways I just for grins handled a new Sig 220, now this was the first model handgun I ever owned, but it was and older non-railed model. The newer model does not feel right so.much so I hated the grip, it just felt wrong. Until this I have loved all the Sigs except the 290, this one had what felt like a roll of quarters in the palmswell. So anyone else feel the same, the new Sig grips not the same as the older frames?

Oh Hell NO.

NRA on "Universal Background Checks"

What the Hell? Seriously people no means NO. I do not nor will I ever support universal background checks. That is too much data to give the government no matter the situation.

Time to give them an ear full. Here

Honestly got nothing.

Well, lets show my nerd side.
I play D&D, and have a twice weekly game. My current character is a Teifling Paladin of Avandra. The D&D geeks are going "Weird". That's the thing I play interesting characters, those that are difficult to play.

I once played a Vampire the Masquerade character who could not lie, and in that game everyone lies all the time.

Still on the guns front, I am a little worried about this stuff, people in are angry, and this is getting close to a whiskey rebellion.

My Partner might kill me

For the next 30 days I am going to try and put up a blog post once a day. I fear this just might cause my Partner to kill me. They do not like me spending a ton of time blogging, I am very slow at this. Eh and now I got to find content everyday....free ice cream machine is gonna be hard.

This is the best they got?

This crap Go ahead try and finish reading that without laughing, head desking, or face palming. I've seen better arguments at high school debate team practice. What brings this to my attention is a soon to be ex friend on face book posted this crap. He honestly couldn't have read it because the very first one they claim to debunk has nothing said about it really. It's a different subject entirely. Hell I had to spend about 20 minutes trying to figure out how in the hell they could ever connect the two subjects really. To quote others, "This is why we win."
